SURGICAL TREATMENT RESULTS OF LOCALLY DISSEMINATED STOMACH CANCER

Treatment results of 138 patients are discussed. Patients with locally disseminated stomach cancer underwent either extended combined gastrectomy (Group 1) or standard combined gastrectomy (Group 2). Post-surgery complications were found in 30.0% patients in Group 1 and in 33.8% in Group 2. Case fatality rates were 7.1% versus 8.8% and overall 5-year survival rates were 21.3 ± 0.2% versus 13.6 ± 0.4% (p < 0.001) in Groups 1 and 2 respectively.
