TREATMENT OF CHILDREN WITH OSTEOSARCOMA

The paper presents a five-year experience of treating children with osteogenic sarcoma with the administration of methotrexate in super-high doses, iphosphamide in super-high doses, cisplatin, doxorubicin, and application of the principle of adjusting the regimes of pre-surgery chemotherapy with account for the efficacy of the course applied. Between 1999 and 2005, 45 patients with a local form and 10 patients with metastatic osteosarcoma were treated. The 2-year survival rates were: 93% in the local form and 30% in the primary metastatic disease.
