MEASURES AIMING TO DECREASE HEPATITIS B AND C MORBIDITY RATES MAY HELP PREVENT HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA IN UZBEKISTAN
Long-term (1986–2006) dynamics of hepatitis B morbidity as well as data on morbidity rate of hepatitis C in the Republic of Uzbekistan are presented. Morbidity rates of virus hepatitis are analyzed on a region by region basis. It is shown that preventive and antiepidemic measures (hepatitis B virus vaccination in children of the first 12 monthsoflife) havehelpeddecrease hepatitis B morbidity rate and change its age structure. Possible impact of these measures on the morbidity rate of hepatocellular carcinoma is discussed.
