THE THERAPEUTIC POTENTIAL OF ANGIOGENESIS INHIBITORS
The review deals with the modern concepts of cellular and molecular mechanisms of angiogenesis and its role in tumor growth focusing on the angiogenic factors, their endogenous inhibitors, integrins and matrix metalloproteinases. The involvement of angiogenesis in pathogenesis of hematologic malignancies is discussed. The most promising angiogenesis inhibitors including those introduced into the clinical practice are considered.
