THE PROSPECTS OF SOYBEAN APPLICATION IN PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF ONCOLOGICAL DISEASES
The article analyzes the data from the scientific literature and our own experimental results on the feasibility and prospects for application of the biologically active components of soy products for the prevention of malignant tumors, in combination therapy of cancer patients and as concomitant drugs. According to the data accumulated during intensive research, phytoestrogens and other components of soy products regulate several mechanisms involved in cell proliferation, cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, angiogenesis and tumor cell metastasis. Epidemiological and experimental data suggest that the presence of soy products in the diet may be an effective factor in preventing cancer or inhibiting the tumor process. These data substantiate the possibility and prospects for the application of biologically active compounds of soy products in the diet of practically healthy individuals, as well as components of anticancer therapy and as concomitant drugs.
